UNC Crashes Duke’s Party
“In about five years, maybe this will be funny,” UNC associate athletic director Rick Steinbacher said. “Right now, I’m just glad no one was hurt.”
I’m glad that no one was hurt too, but make no mistake about it…it’s already fucking hilarious.
The story goes like this: UNC hired to parachuters to land in their stadium during the pre-game show, carrying a game ball. The sky looked cloudy,
though, so supposedly they called off the Kenan Stadium jump.
Only the jumpers didn’t get the memo.
So they jumped.
With a UNC game ball.
Into Duke’s Wallace Wade Stadium.
Duke’s football stadium is about 8 miles down the road from UNC’s football stadium. The parachuters told reporters that they didn’t realize they were at the wrong location until it was too late. So, they landed on the 35-yard line, met by confused Duke personnel.
One can only hope they were painted in UNC-colored body paint or something. That would have been glorious.
