Without a good coach, your football team is nothing.
In 2007, we saw some amazing coaching (and some amazingly bad coaching). While the entire coaching staff is important, it is ultimately the head coach that makes the calls on everything. Here’s who I think will be interesting to watching in 2008:

With so many teams kickin’ their coaches to the curb this year, athletic directors across the country are in a frenzy to do one of two things:
Convince an awesome coach to come coach for their team.
Convince their awesome coach not to leave.
I can just hear the talks going on. They all sound like used car […]

Early today, ESPN (as well as a number of other news services) reported that Les Miles would be heading to Michigan, leaving his LSU tigers to coach at his alma mater. Who gave that first “official” word? *shrug* Dunno, but they were wrong.
Smart move. SMART. Since taklking about it early this week, I’ve thought a […]

No big surprise here - Michigan is after LSU’s Head Coach Les Miles to replace Coach Lloyd Carr, who announced his retirement earlier this year. This is one of the few young coaches that I really respect. He had some good mentors, but Bielema has really proven that you don’t have to be a dinosaur to win games. Plus he’s hot.
What. I am a girl, remember?

After a pitiful showing yesterday by the Texas Tech defense against Oklahoma State, the team’s defensive coordinator, Lyle Setencich announced his resignation. Reports today indicate he was leaving for “personal reasons.” Sounds like Setencich is taking the 49-45 loss personally.
Now, I can’t assume that he’s not truly leaving for legitimate reasons. Maybe a family member […]
