Filling Some Big Shoes - BCS Top Quarterback Replacements
Early this week, I asked if USC could be a powerhouse in 2008 without some of their key starters, including quarterback John David Booty. Come to think of it, though, Booty isn’t by far the only quarterback out there that has left a vacant spot in a thriving program. I mean, just look at the Michigan situation, with the loss of Chad Henne and now Ryan Mallet. Many of the top 25 teams have lost their quarterbacks this year, so all eyes will be on the new starters for 2008. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be previewing all of these fine fellas, and I hope you’ll weigh in with your opinions on them and the teams they’ll be leading!

- LSU - Matt Flynn, likely replaced by Ryan Perrilloux
- Georgia - Matthew Stafford, back next year
- USC - John David Booty, likely replaced by Mark Sanchez

- West Virginia - Pat White, back next year
- Kansas - Todd Reesing, back next year
- Oklahoma - Sam Bradford, back next year

- Boston College - Matt Ryan, likely replaced by Chris Crane or Billy Flutie
- Tennessee - Erik Ainge, likely replaced by Jonathan Crompton

- Auburn - Brandon Cox, likely replaced by Kodi Burns
- Arizona State - Rudy Carpenter, back next year

So that’s 10 out of 25 that will be headed up by bran new quarterbacks (although some of these guys are somewhat veterans, as they got playing time in 2007).
