Early NCAA Top 25

by Allison on May 11th, 2008

This week, ESPN’s Mark Schlabach revised his early top 25 predictions. You can read the full predictions here. Do you agree with his selections?

  1. Ohio State Buckeyes
  2. Georgia Bulldogs
  3. Oklahoma Sooners
  4. USC Trojans
  5. Florida Gators
  6. Missouri Tigers
  7. Clemson Tigers
  8. Texas Longhorns
  9. West Virginia Mountaineers
  10. Auburn Tigers
  11. Texas Tech Red Raiders
  12. LSU Tigers
  13. Arizona State Sun Devils
  14. BYU Cougars
  15. Tennessee Volunteers
  16. Illinois Fighting Illini
  17. Kansas Jayhawks
  18. Wisconsin Badger
  19. Pittsburgh Panther
  20. Virginia Tech Hokies
  21. Fresno State Bulldogs
  22. Wake Forest Demon Deacons
  23. Oregon Ducks
  24. Michigan State Spartans
  25. Penn State Nittany Lions

Is it the year of the Tiger? Maybe! I think there are a few key mistakes with this list. Namely, the end of the list seems pretty week, although I do hope that PSU keeps things together and helps JoePa go out with a bang. I’d probably also rank Missouri a bit higher, and I’m not sure that USC deserves such a top spot. We’ll wait and see how Mark Sanchez works out.

I do agree with this list for the most-part. I would probably switch two of the tigers listed, Auburn and Clemson. Maybe move Kansas a few spots higher, and West Virginia is not to be taken lightly. I am an Oklahoma fan so I know. Although, we did play them without many key starters. Some All-Americans headed to the League. Malcolm Kelly, DeMarco Murray, Reggie Smith, DeMarcus Granger to name a few. I still Think West Virginia is for real and is probably better than those tough-talking tigers from Missouri anyway. I thought Missouri was the show-me state!!! By the way, in case you did’nt know the Sooner defense is reloaded and perhaps better than last season. In a recent scrimmage, they picked Bradford off six times and took three to the house!!! Just to let you know.
