Don’t Worry…It isn’t Serious…

by Allison on May 12th, 2008

The Associated Press is reporting that Florida player Matt Patchan has been shot in the shoulder/back area while at Tampa park. The 6-fot-7 lineman became a student early in January after graduating from high school.

Patchan’s high school coach, Sean Callahan, said the former offensive lineman told him that “he’s fine.”

“I don’t know what he was doing there or why they were there,” Callahan, of Armwood High School in Seffner, Fla., told the St. Petersburg Times. “I don’t know all the details. I just know he went to the Brandon hospital. They left [the bullet] in. It’s not serious. It’s in the soft tissue.”

You can read more about it here.

Um…not serious? I mean, I get what the coach was saying - the kid isn’t medically in danger.

But dude, when someone gets shot in a park…it is always serious. He was just lucky.

More details if they report ‘em. I want to know why Patchan was in a park on a Friday night in the first place. I hope for the best but expect the worst…
